The most striking part of your story to me was your parents picking you up at the airport on the other end of your lovely transcontinental travels. Yes, so true. Should not be taken for granted. Both are in the late 70s. Dad’s about to hit 80 and still likes to drive. It was a treat to see them first.

Movies and shows inflight are scripted so it omits many truths but I do find good documentaries and podcasts inflight that you don't generally see in the US. For example, in the Emirates flight, there was a lot of local middle-eastern content. Gives you a different perspective. I don't watch movies anymore inflight.

Mom is homebound, dad passed several years back, but I loved using Substack to commemorate him in a piece!
